Upcoming Programs
Below are descriptions for three upcoming programs. Please be in touch if you are interested in one-on-one consultations, collaborations, or if you have ideas for other programs you would like to see offered.
Dreaming of Spring, free, in-person program
Sunday, January 26th, 2-4pm EST, and Thursday, February 6th 5:30-7:30pm at the Lilly Library, in Florence, MA
We are running a couple of free, drop-in programs at the Lilly Library in the upcoming weeks to support people in dreaming about their future gardens! Think seed catalogues, markers and paper, and friends to dream with.
Dreaming of Spring, online class
Sunday, February 9th, 2pm-4pm EST, online -OR- Thursday, February 13th 7pm-9pm EST, online
Dreaming of springtime and this year’s garden? Looking for sources of resilience in the face of climate change and political upheaval?
Join us for a workshop on how to plan a garden for the future. Explore climate and socially resilient growing techniques while building community with other gardeners and grounding with the earth.
The workshop will include visioning exercises, concrete garden planning and seed ordering guidance, as well as goal setting for this year’s growing season!
Additionally, we will begin and end the session by taking time to connect with the nature around us and process the changing climate we are growing in, together, in community.
No-till Gardening for a Resilient Future, in-person, 9 month course
February 2025- October 2025, monthly, in-person class at Astarte Farm in Hadley, MA
What are the concrete skills needed to grow food in the face of climate change? How do we build a resilient community while growing food for the future?
This is our pillar course, which meets once a month for 9 months from February 2025- October 2025 (more detailed schedule provided here) and guides you through the growing season, with lessons geared towards the upcoming month’s gardening tasks and connecting you to local community projects. Readings and other educational opportunities will be provided in-between classes.
Each of the course topics (which you can read about here) will be explored through the lens of climate and social resilience. This course will deepen one’s connection to the natural world through a scientific, social, spiritual, emotional, and creative lens. There will be space to share knowledge participants bring to the topics, as well as ask questions specific to your gardening projects and interests.
You do not need to be a gardener, or even have a garden to participate!
These classes are run by Rose Cherneff of Gardening for the Future. Rose is a farmer and educator based in Western Mass. Read more about them and their inspirations on the Gardening for the Future website!
